PA Tax Credit Programs

The Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) is a great way to expand access to a Notre Dame education and by providing tuition assistance for eligible families.This is the easiest way to tell Harrisburg how to redirect your PA tax dollars AND support our mission. If you owe more than $5,000 to Pennsylvania each year (line 12 of the PA tax form), please consider supporting the ND Tax Credit Program. 

As a result of the collective giving power of our EITC donors, we awarded scholarships to 57 current deserving students. The girls were able to discover their passions and hone their individual gifts and talents within the Gates, shining brightly in the unique way that only Notre Dame girls do.

The process is easy, but don’t hesitate because the tax year is quickly coming to an end!

You can receive up to a 90% tax credit/refund against personal PA state tax liability by making a 2-year gift commitment to ND through BLOCS.  BLOCS is a scholarship organization dedicated to supporting schools, like ND, to provide a high-caliber, Catholic education to families who are in need of tuition assistance.

An individual or company who wishes to take advantage of this tax-credit program may become a member of a BLOCS Scholarship LLC ("LLC") with a 2-year commitment to fund the LLC. These credits will be distributed to each member via K-1 and are then applied to your PA tax liability for the tax year in which the donation is made.

Step 1: To join, an individual or company makes a 2-year commitment, (minimum of $5,000 per year). Completing the below pledge form is the first step.

Step 2: Notre Dame will connect you with a BLOCS representative to add you as a SPE member.

Step 3: BLOCS will guide you when it’s time to make your Year 1 contribution. They make the process very easy, and ND is also always here to help!

​Step 4: In February, BLOCS will provide you with a K-1 to claim your 90% credit/refund. *If your PA state tax has been withheld all year long as payroll deduction, you will be refunded after you file your taxes. (Please know this may take 6-9 months to receive the refund)

Step 5: Your second (or Year 2) contribution will be made approximately one year following the first payment date.

When you choose Notre Dame to be the recipient of your tax credit contribution, the Academy will be notified by BLOCS of your contribution, then 100% of your contribution will be awarded to a Notre Dame family in need of tuition assistance for the following school year.

For the current academic year, the Academy awarded over $1,000,000 in scholarships funded by EITC/OSTC contributions - a milestone that was only possible because of the generosity of our community.
