Frequently Asked Questions

What is The Notre Dame Fund and where do dollars go?

The Notre Dame Fund is the fundraising priority for the Academy and bridges the gap between the total cost of school operations and tuition revenue. The actual cost of educating each student is more than the income from tuition. Tuition covers approximately 88% of the annual operating budget. Unrestricted gifts made to The Notre Dame Fund are spent immediately in the current fiscal year. The gap is approximately $4,000 per student. The Notre Dame Fund gifts are needed to sustain our excellent facilities, unparalleled faculty and signature education.

What is the President’s Club?

The President’s Club seeks to encourage and recognize leadership donors to The Notre Dame Fund. The Notre Dame Fund provides the largest source of revenue after tuition.  While Notre Dame relies on gifts of all sizes, leadership gifts are particularly critical to the Academy’s financial stability. The President’s Club offers seven levels of membership that recognize those who contribute $1,000 or more each year. Donors are honored and celebrated at a reception in December.  We are deeply grateful for your generosity.

How does a gift to The Notre Dame Fund differ from an endowment or capital gift?

Notre Dame Fund gifts are unrestricted and spent in the current fiscal year. Capital gifts are directed toward improving specific facilities or providing expensive items such as large scale technology upgrades and may be spent over a number of years. Endowment gifts are invested and help provide a firm financial foundation for the Academy and build for its future.
