Chorale students from the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur in Villanova, PA, were invited to sing on the Rotunda staircase at the State Capitol building on Wednesday, March 25, as part of Music in Our Schools Month.

The singers performed in front of public visitors and members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Songs included the National Anthem, “The Longest Time,” and “Feelin’ Groovy.”

The trip and performance coincided with Music in Our Schools Month, a recognition dedicated to raising awareness to the importance and benefits of music education, and the 2015 Conference of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association held in nearby Hershey, PA.

Students performing included: seniors Christina Adams (Devon), Marygrace Hallinan (West Chester), Maeve Mulvanerty (Wayne), Morgan Patton (West Chester), Kimberly Schmidt (Newtown Square), Kathryn Stavish (Havertown), Lexi Suydam (Havertown); juniors Julia Barry (Haverford), Christina Dietzler (Glenolden), Nicolle Hughes (Berwyn), Allison Magee (Havertown), Jordan Pietrafitta (West Chester), Cayla Preston (Newtown Square); sophomores Julia Goldschmidt (Wayne), Sara Meguerian (Phoenixville), Elizabeth Speers (Havertown); and freshmen Emily Apadula (Media), Lauren Dietzler (Glenolden), Jennifer Lepore (Havertown), Abby McNamee (West Chester), and Molly McCarthy (Media).
