Director of Alumnae Relations

The Academy of Notre Dame de Namur, an independent Catholic school for girls located in Villanova, Pennsylvania, is seeking a full time Director of Alumnae Relations beginning July, 2018. Staff and faculty are actively engaged in the Notre Dame community, and embrace the mission and values of St. Julie Billiart and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.

The ideal candidate is a graduate of the Academy of Notre Dame, and a dynamic and positive individual with superior interpersonal, communication, and technology skills to:

  • Oversee all alumnae activities, communications, and events.
  • Foster increased alumnae connections with Notre Dame and each other.
  • Increase alumnae participation in all aspects of Notre Dame including fundraising.
  • Identify and cultivate alumnae to serve in volunteer and leadership roles at Notre Dame.
  • Write and coordinate all alumnae communication including class notes in Notre Dame’s Visions magazine, digital newsletters, and social media outreach.
  • Responsible for all aspects of Reunion Weekend, regional alumnae gatherings in Philadelphia, New York, Washington D.C. etc., Alumnae Induction, and additional alumnae activities/events.
  • Oversee Notre Dame’s Alumnae Association and plan Alumnae Association meetings.
  • Maintain ongoing contact with alumnae and accurate alumnae records in the Advancement Office database.
  • Serve as a supportive member of the Advancement team by assisting with special events such as the annual auction and golf outing.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and confidentiality at all times.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three years of experience in a professional office setting (alumnae and/or fundraising experience preferred)
  • Computer competencies and knowledge of social media
  • Ability to multi-task and manage volunteer staff with accuracy and diplomacy
  • Team player with ability to work independently

Advancement Assistant

The Academy of Notre Dame de Namur, an independent Catholic school for girls located in Villanova, Pennsylvania, is seeking a full time Advancement Assistant beginning July, 2018. Staff and faculty are actively engaged in the Notre Dame community, and embrace the mission and values of St. Julie Billiart and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.

The ideal candidate is a dynamic and positive individual with superior organizational, communication, and technology skills to:

  • Provide clerical support to the Director of Advancement and Advancement team.
  • Actively steward all constituencies of Notre Dame.
  • Process, record, and acknowledge all gifts and pledges.
  • Produce office reports, mailing lists, and correspondence merges.
  • Collect and manage biographical information to ensure an accurate, updated database.
  • Manage office needs such as coordinating supplies, tracking expenses, and the like.
  • Assist with Advancement Office events (some of which occur on nights and weekends).
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and confidentiality at all times.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a professional office setting
  • Strong proficiency in the use of technology and database programs (Senior Systems or Raisers Edge preferred)
  • Self-starter and excellent problem solver
  • Team player with ability to work independently

English Teacher

The Academy of Notre Dame de Namur, an independent Catholic school for girls located in Villanova, Pennsylvania, is seeking a full-time English teacher beginning with the 2018-2019 school year. Faculty and staff are actively engaged in the Notre Dame community, and  embrace the mission and values of St. Julie Billiart and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.  The ideal candidate is a dynamic, creative teacher who demonstrates an enthusiasm for working with middle school and high school aged girls, a commitment to innovative pedagogy, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a comfort and familiarity with the use of relevant technology to enhance learning.  

Competencies Required:
  • Experience teaching sixth through twelfth grades
  • Master's degree and relevant certification preferred
  • Teaching experience in an independent school environment desirable 
  • AP experience strongly preferred

Coaching Opportunities:

The Academy of Notre Dame is seeking school coaches for the following positions for the upcoming 2018-19 fall season.

  • Middle School Varsity Field Hockey Coach
  • High School Head JV Field Hockey Coach
The Academy of Notre Dame de Namur, an independent Catholic school for girls located in Villanova, Pennsylvania, is seeking a High School Head JV Field Hockey coach and a Middle School Head Varsity Field Hockey coach for the fall 2018 season. Our coaches are actively engaged in the Notre Dame community, and embrace the mission and values of St. Julie Billiart and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. Our coaches are responsible for coaching, character development and providing direction to student athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork in Field Hockey. This job requires you to interact thoughtfully and respectfully with student athletes, fellow coaches, staff, parents and community and well as follow the mission of the school. Positive communication strategies, organizational skills, and safety awareness are key requirements.
Key Elements
1. Follow and uphold the policies and mission statement of The Academy of Notre Dame.
2. Assist in planning, organizing, and directing The Academy of Notre Dame’s Field Hockey program.
3. Instruct and demonstrate skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team
development.
4. Ensure that team rules and regulations regarding conduct and eligibility of the athletes are clearly communicated and followed.
5. Plan, organize, advertise, and conduct tryouts for the Field Hockey program; inform Athletic Department and participants of final selections. Maintain the integrity of the selection process.
6. Consult with the Athletic Director regarding any off-season training programs including
scheduling dates for summer camps/practices, uniform fitting, pre-post tryout informational parent meetings.
7. Attend informational parent meetings at the beginning of each season for all levels. 
8. Create a safe environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
9. Work directly with school athletic trainer in reporting injuries, teaching precautions and procedures to ensure staff/student safety and help students prevent injuries. 
10. Model good sportsmanship behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards opposing team, fans, parents, officials, spectators and community.
