Plan Your Visit

There are a variety of ways to visit and experience Notre Dame. We invite you to review the options below and schedule a visit that best meets your needs:

Shadow Day Visits

Prospective middle school and high school students should plan to spend a day with us as an "ND VIP"—our personalized daily visit experience.

Representatives from our Admissions staff will guide students through the day and answer any questions about Notre Dame.

Ideally, you should submit your application before scheduling your ND VIP visit.

As an ND VIP, your daughter will:

  • "Shadow" a student throughout her day
  • Visit classes and meet our faculty
  • Learn firsthand what sisterhood at Notre Dame is all about
  • Share lunch with your student guide and other current students
  • Discover opportunities to participate in athletic, extracurricular, and co-curricular activities

Parent Visits

The parent visit is an integral element of the admissions process and we encourage all parents to visit early in the process. Join us on the same day as your child, or visit separately at a more convenient time for you.

Parents should plan to spend about an hour with us to tour campus, meet students and staff, and spend time with an admissions representative. Appointments with additional staff and/or administrators are available upon request and as schedules allow.

How to Schedule Your Visit

As your hosts, our goal is simple: we want to provide you an informative, authentic experience of Notre Dame so you can best decide if this is the place that feels right for your family. For us, speaking with you personally is the best way to ensure that we schedule a visit that addresses your needs and interests.

Schedule your Shadow Day and/or Parent Visit by contacting your admissions representative directly:

Visit Information & FAQ

All visitors should check in at the front desk of our Harron Family Building (view our campus map as a reference). Parking is available in any of the adjacent lots. Parents, you are welcome to accompany your child into the building, even if you won't be staying for the visit. We'll take it from there!

Generally, visiting students should plan to arrive by 7:55 am (High School and Middle School). Visiting High School students will conclude their day by 2:30 pm and Middle School students will conclude their day at 1:00 pm. All visitors will be dismissed from the Harron Lobby.

Visit FAQ

What should I wear?
If you attend a school that requires a uniform, please wear your regular school uniform. Otherwise, just dress nicely (please no jeans). Don’t forget to consider the weather—we have a large campus with six buildings, so girls do travel from building to building.

Do I need to bring a lunch?
We are happy to provide lunch for our visiting students and our office will supply guests with a lunch pass. Additionally, please feel free to pack anything specific you would like to include and of course let us know if there are food allergies or sensitivities we should be aware of.

I know a student at Notre Dame. Can I spend the day with her?
You may request a specific student to be your guide when you schedule your visit and we will do our best to accommodate that request. Please be aware that there are many factors involved, including a student’s course schedule and the test calendar.

Is there anything I need to bring with me?
We will provide everything you should need for the day: a welcome packet, ND-specific information, paper and a pencil to take notes in class, a lunch pass, etc. The only thing we ask you to bring is an open mind and a desire to learn more!

I'm interested in playing a sport. Can I meet the coach?
Many of our coaches also serve as staff and faculty at Notre Dame. If you are interested, every effort will be made to coordinate a meeting between a visitor and a coach (or another representative from our Athletics Office).
