Sailing Club - HS
Club Moderator: Dan Cullen
Captains: Ava Bowie and MJ Tague
2017 Season Outlook: The Academy of Notre Dame Sailing team is looking to build on the momentum it created at the end of the Fall 2016 season. Led by Junior captains Ava Bowie and MJ Tague, who are skippering the “A” boat and “B” boats respectively, the team worked through a transition to our new skippers following the departure of our two senior co-captains to graduation last year. With each week Ava, paired with crew Emily Duff, and MJ with her crew Sophie Sheffer gained valuable experience and confidence that they could place at the top of the fleet. The second half of the fall season saw consistent results that help move Notre Dame into 3rd place overall heading into the Spring season. This Spring we are excited to welcome back experienced crew Jen Dudzinsky, as well as 3 returning sophomore team members who all gained valuable experience last Spring. The girls will look to put pressure on Conestoga and league leading Malvern Prep as the team fights to climb into contention for its 2nd MLSSA Bell Cup. The Sailing team will also be positioning itself with great depth and experience for a terrific 2017-18 season when all of our sailors will have another year under their belt in their new leadership and sailing roles. Notre Dame Sailing will also be making a return trip to the New Jersey State High School Girls Championships in May where the Irish last year earned a bronze medal in the 15 team field. With new freshman joining every season, and some incoming sailing talent set to join the team next year, the future looks very bright for Notre Dame Sailing.
The team sails out of the Corinthian Yacht Club in Essington, PA.
