The entire front of our campus continues to be transformed with our new state-of-the-art athletic facilities.

The softball field (field # 3) is nearing completion with the installation of benches, the back stop and safety netting. The irrigation has been tested, and the sod is beginning to knit. By next spring, we shall be in great shape to "play ball."

The turf field next to the softball field (field #2) has been successfully installed and we are currently completing the concrete walkway and viewing area, so that our student-athletes and spectators will have safe access to field #2.

The turf and the asphalt for the track have been installed around the second turf field (field #1). This asphalt needs a 14-day period to cure before the track material can be applied to the top. Weather permitting, the track material and lines will be applied to the track this fall. Asphalt has also been installed in a D-shaped area ("D 1") for long jump, high jump, and pole vaulting. The "D2" area along Sproul Road will have areas for shot put and other track activities. The installation of safety netting and proper inspections of the turf field/track will be scheduled at the appropriate time.

We are getting closer to the actual use of field #2 by our teams. However, to allow for continued construction progress, the campus will be closed during the Columbus Day holiday from Friday, (10/10) to our reopening on Tuesday, 10/14.

Thank you for your continued cooperation with this major construction project in which safety has been our number one priority.

Sincerely,

Judith A. Dwyer, Ph.D.
