September 25, 2020 CLASS OF 2023 STUDENTS COMPLETE RESEARCH PROJECT HIGHLIGHTING THE SCIENCE & HISTORY OF TSUNAMIS IN INDONESIA Notre Dame students Alexa Kish, Lindsay McBride, Riya Patel and Therese Trainer participated in the virtual Pioneer Academics Open Summer Study research opportunity. Here, they attended a 10-week lecture series on socio-economic change and completed a research paper on a topic of their choice relating to the lectures' theme.
"Although many will never visit Indonesia during their lifetime, learning and fully understanding the disasters faced there are critical to improving global competency and awareness. It is the authors' hope that those who read this paper will be knowledgeable of the science and history behind tsunamis and will go forth to share what they have learned."
Read the full research paper here.
Seniors Isabella Langley, Ava MacLaughlin and Sophia Pappano have been named Commended Scholars based on their National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test score, placing in the top 3-4% of over 1.5 million students test-takers.
6TH GRADE ADVENTURES
Ms. McAnulla's 6th grade classes took advantage of the nice weather and went on a geocaching adventure around campus this week!
GET STARTED WITH CANVAS!
Notre Dame recently pivoted to a new Learning Management System, Canvas, where grades, assignments and class discussions will now occur. Parents are able to view grades and assignments for their students as "observers" in Canvas. To do that, please follow these steps:
Optional: You might receive a lot of email notifications. If you wish to adjust the frequency of emails you receive from Canvas, follow these instructions.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
The Notre Dame Art Show Committee is looking for volunteers with experience or knowledge in building websites, online shop sites or Shopify. We appreciate whatever time you're able to give! Interested parties should reach out to: ndartshow@ndapa.org.
AT-HOME SERVICE HOURS OPPORTUNITY Sandwiches for the Patrician Society
"Feed the hungry and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon." Isaiah 58:10
All ND students and their families who are looking to give back are invited to take part in PB+J, a for-credit service opportunity in support of the Patrician Society. Instructions on how to prepare the sandwiches are available here.
For more information or questions, please contact: Jen McGowan, Community Outreach Chair (P'25), and Jenn Ferry, PB+J Coordinator (p'24) at parents@ndapa.org.
