Kaitlin Marsini '14 Preparing for Career in Law Kaitlin Marsini '14, pictured above with her family and Mom, Colleen Marsini '78, is in pursuit of a law degree at Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law.
"At Notre Dame, I was very interested in the science classes that were offered, which led me to pursue a Biology degree at University of Delaware. I was initially interested in pursuing medical school, but realized later in college that I wanted to go to law school. Although my family consists of many lawyers, I never really considered it until I started thinking what I was going to do post-graduation."
After graduating from the University of Delaware, she began pursuing her J.D. from Villanova Law. Kaitlin shares, "it definitely was difficult transitioning from biology/chemistry/physics lectures and labs to reading and writing a ton. Since starting law school, I have interned with a Judge, the Honorable Carolyn Carluccio, in Montgomery County, which was great to experience how the Judge makes decisions and rulings on cases. It was also a great to see the overall environment and interactions of court."
Last spring, Kaitlin interned with a global telecommunications and technology company called CommScope. Kaitlin mainly worked with intellectual property (IP) attorneys, along with business legal work. With a science degree, many people who pursue law school also pursue IP law, specifically patent law, because a science or technical degree is required to become a patent attorney.
To gain more litigation experience, Kaitlin is currently a law clerk at Saltz Mongeluzzi & Bendesky, a personal injury plaintiff's firm in Philadelphia. This fall, she will be begin her final year at Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law.
We are in awe of the many Notre Dame graduates who are making a difference in the world of healthcare during these unprecedented times.
Karine Keshgegian '10 received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from West Chester University. Karine worked at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) for four years and is currently working at the University of Pennsylvania, on the oncology and Covid-19 floors.
Ali Kleinman '14 is a critical care nurse at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, working on a closed progressive transplant unit specializing in kidney, liver and pancreas transplants.
Thank you Karine, Ali, and the many amazing healthcare workers within our Notre Dame community who are making a difference in the lives of so many.
