December 20, 2019 A Christmas Message from the Head of School The Christmas season is always a reminder to make room for God's miracles in our lives - the miracle of love, the miracle of peace, the miracle of forgiveness and healing, the miracle of close family relationships.
Saint Julie believed in the power of miracles - in her own life and in the lives of her students. In her spirit, we pray that our hearts this Christmas may be as wide as the world with God's love.
May you and your family have a blessed Christmas and a joyous New Year.

Around Campus Students Represent ND at World Affairs Council On December 13, seven ND students attended the 2019 International Student Summit on Information and Democracy, sponsored by the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia. The event, held at the Fox School of Business at Temple University, simulated a meeting of international advocates for free speech, journalism, and independent press. Students explored and offered solutions to issues including pervasive disinformation, suppression of free press, security of journalists, and anti-democratic regimes. Juniors Maeve Pinheiro and Kat Lanzalotto both won awards for Outstanding Student Leader representing the countries of Iraq and Ethiopia, respectively. Junior Jeannia Telfort received Honorable Mention for Student Delegate, representing Australia. Other team members include Ceci Massaua (9th), Karissa Edmundowicz (11th), Julia Czachor (11th), and Sarah Bowen (11th). Congratulations to the team! Spanish Students Translate Christmas Greetings On Tuesday, students in Sra. Fink's Spanish class presented translated Christmas messages for children living at Amigos de Jesús, a school, chapel, and working farm serving impoverished children in rural Honduras. Local supporters of the program wrote Christmas messages to their "adopted" children and Notre Dame students translated their messages into Spanish, adding some special Christmas flair. Amigos de Jesús supports over 140 children in a loving, safe environment for children to grow and learn. Representatives from the organization received the translations and thanked the students for their hard work. "The children at Amigos de Jesus hold hands and pray every evening thanking God for their sponsors and for all the people who help to support Amigos de Jesus. The Academy of Notre Dame is now part of that prayer circle and part of the family of Amigos de Jesus."
