October 4, 2019 A Message from Dr. Judith A. Dwyer At its meeting this week, the Academy's Board of Trustees unanimously voted to change the leadership titles at Notre Dame to reflect established practice regarding titles within independent schools throughout the United States and the world.
Effective immediately, the "President" title is now "Head of School" and the Principal title is "Associate Head of School." To complete this "best practice" positioning within the independent school tradition, the "High School" is now the "Upper School" with a "Director of the Upper School." Our "Middle School" remains as titled, with a "Director of the Middle School." The roles and responsibilities remain the same in all areas.
The current Notre Dame search for a Principal reflects these changes. Please find the position profile here for an "Associate Head of School" that Carney, Sandoe & Associates will post on its website today.
These title changes reflect our continued efforts to distinguish Notre Dame as the premier independent Catholic academy for young women in North America (cf. Strategic Vision Statement, March 10, 2015).
May God continue to bless Notre Dame, a community that celebrates God's goodness and a future of great promise.
