Special Testing Schedule October 16, 2019
October 16, 2019 is a day set aside for testing in grades 7-11, and a retreat for grade 6. An optional college application workshop will be offered for seniors.
Dismissal is 12:00 pm.
Administration of the following tests will take place: Grade 7: Practice High School Entrance and Scholarship Test (Practice HSPT) Grade 8: High School Entrance and Scholarship Test (HSPT) Grade 9: PSAT 8/9 Grade 10: PSAT Grade 11: PSAT
Students in grade 6 will participate in a retreat with our Campus Minister, Mrs. Jo Gandolfo. Mrs. Gandolfo will provide more details regarding the retreat.
Seniors are invited to join the college counselors for an optional college application workshop.
Please note that seniors do not report to school on Tuesday, October 15. This is set aside as a college visitation day. All students in grades 6-11 report to school on Tuesday, October 15.
On Wednesday, October 16, the cafeteria will be open for breakfast from 7:30 am-8:00 am. A limited lunch menu will be available from 11:30 am-12:30 pm. The library will be closed.

News from Campus Ministry Inspired by the burden that millions of women and children bear every day walking an average of 3.5 miles to collect water that is not safe, we, the Academy of Notre Dame, will Walk for Water to raise awareness of the global water crisis.
On Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 9:00 am faculty, staff, students, alumnae, parents, family, and friends are invited to join the Notre Dame community as we walk three miles on our track in solidarity with the millions of women and children who walk daily for water.
Registration is $15. T-shirts will be on sale for $20. All donations will go to the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.

This year, we have added an Opening Liturgy at 9:00 am, prior to Open House which begins at 10:00 am. Upcoming Author Visit Notre Dame is pleased to welcome Diana Kapp, author of Girls Who Run the World: 31 CEOs Who Mean Business. Ms. Kapp will be speaking primarily to our middle school students (high school students are welcome too!) on Friday, October 18 at 9:15 am in the library. Ms. Kapp is a business journalist with an MBA from Stanford University. She wrote Girls Who Run the World for tween and teen girls featuring the entrepreneurs behind the companies they love. Thanks to Children's Book World for coordinating this author visit and handling all book orders. Book order forms will be sent home with students and are also available by clicking here. Verify Grandparent Mailing Addresses Grandparents are an important part of our Notre Dame community! The Academy wants to ensure that your child's grandparents receive our school magazines, invitations, and mailings.
Important Changes to the AP Exam Program CollegeBoard has made some improvements to the registration process for AP exams. All AP students must register and pay for the exams by October 31, 2019. Students will receive a class code from their AP teachers to register online through CollegeBoard.org. Please sign and return the AP Contract emailed to all AP students and parents. Upcoming Counseling Events The School Counseling and College Counseling departments are happy to announce that we will be continuing our quarterly "Counselor Chat" series for parents this year. Our first chat will be Tuesday, October 1 from 8:00-9:20 am in the Library. We will be offering overviews of two of our most-used technology systems--Backpack and Naviance. Mr. Tyler Gaspich, our Director of Information Resources and Technologies, will cover parent use of Backpack--our main school system for viewing grades, attendance, etc. The College Counseling department will also offer a brief overview of our College and Career search tool, Naviance, and how it is used over the course of your student's four years in high school. Twelfth and Eighth Grade Class Photos On Wednesday, October 9, the senior and eighth grade classes will have group photos taken in front of the Mansion for the yearbook. Uniforms are not required, however students are asked to dress appropriately and may wear those clothes for the remainder of the day.
Seniors: Arrive at the Mansion patio by 7:30 am
There will be no retakes or Photoshop work for students who are not present.

Athletics Update High school sports are underway! The ND Field Hockey team is off to a great start with wins over Penn Manor (1-0), Villa Maria Academy (3-1) and Merion Mercy (3-1). They hope to continue their winning streak when they play tough out of state opponents this weekend at the Max Prep Field Hockey National High School Tournament. First up the team will face West Essex HS from New Jersey on Friday at 5:00 pm and then New Trier High School from Illinois on Saturday at 5:00 pm. Good luck!
ND Volleyball is looking to repeat the success of last year with hopes of winning the Inter-Ac and PAISAA championship. The team took home their first Inter-Ac win on Thursday evening defeating Agnes Irwin 3-0 (25-19; 25-12; 25-19).
Cross Country has already started their Inter-Ac league schedule with a double win last week over Germantown Academy and Baldwin at their Tri-meet. Their meet on Tuesday at Belmont Plateau ended with a tight 28-27 loss to Penn Charter but a good win over Episcopal Academy, 19-40.
Tennis and Soccer have full rosters this fall and are looking to have success against very strong Inter-Ac opponents!
The ND Crew team is out on the water this fall for the first time as we introduce a fall season for the sport. Thirty plus ND rowers will compete in the fall regattas. We are also excited to gather this weekend to dedicate our two new boats named St. Julie and Cuvilly. The boats will be dedicated at a ceremony on Sunday, September 22 at 9:00 am at the Hines Rowing Center in Conshohocken. All members of the Notre Dame community are invited to attend.
Middle School fall sports are off to a great start! We are fielding teams in Varsity and JV Field Hockey, Volleyball, Varsity Soccer, and Tennis. We are also excited to introduce our brand new MS Crew Club program which will be meeting on Saturdays at the Hines Rowing Center in Conshohocken. This program is a great way to introduce rowing to any newcomers and enjoy the fall weather on the weekends! Competitions begin next week and we are excited for another competitive fall season.
