The Buzz On and Off Campus A Message from Newly Elected Alumnae Executive Board President, Megan McNeill Trost '94 Dear Alumnae,
On behalf of the Alumnae Association Board, I first want to thank our outgoing President, Kim Tierney Pegg '88, and Secretary, Angela Guarino '00, for their tireless work on behalf of the Alumnae Association. Their contributions and leadership have allowed us to reach new heights and we cannot express our gratitude enough.
Our new Board members are looking forward to an exciting year reconnecting Alumnae across the globe. We hope that you will take advantage of our many local events throughout the year whether it be your class reunion, the Christmas party at the Union League, the Luncheon in the Mansion or even attending one of our Alumnae meetings. Your participation is what makes these events memorable. Please know that one of my goals this year is to help facilitate events throughout the world so that we can engage more Alumnae, but we will need your help to do it. Our plan is to have a global book read in hopes that we will have local meet-ups to discuss the book and enjoy the company of fellow Alumnae. We would also like to incorporate a global day of service, so stayed tuned as we work on details for these events. If you would be willing to help with either of these events, I would love to hear from you.
Notre Dame helped shape us into the wonderful, strong, thoughtful women that we are today. In reflecting on our time at Notre Dame, we gain a unique perspective on what being a part of this community truly means. I hope you will help us foster and deepen the meaningful relationships that continue to grow throughout the Alumnae community and with the current student body.
I look forward to reconnecting with you as we head into an amazing year!
Sincerely,
Megan McNeill Trost '94 President of the Executive Alumnae Board Email: Alumnae@ndapa.org
The Annual Mother-Daughter Picnic A time-honored tradition continues at the annual Mother-Daughter Picnic on campus earlier this month. Nearly 30 Alumnae Mothers gathered with their daughters, celebrating the start to another great academic year.
The Academy's Thriving Arts Program Featured in Main Line Today Notre Dame's president, Dr. Judith Dwyer, shares information about the thriving fine and performing arts programs at the Academy in her interview with Main Line Today. Click here to read the full article.
"The fine and performing arts are alive and well at Notre Dame," concludes Dwyer. "The arts encourage us to transcend any given moment as we explore the power of talent. They inspire our teaching and learning, lift our spirits, and help us to celebrate the beauty and complexity of life."
Young Alumnae Making a Difference! The ND College Counseling and Communications Departments are partnering together to highlight the amazing accomplishments of our young Alumnae. Noelia Ortiz-Landazabal '17, a current student at the Schreyer Honors College at Penn State University, recently submitted a post to schreyerforwomen.com titled, "Understanding Purpose: The Impact of Sustainable Change" which talks about her work through Schreyer for Women with a global not-for-profit Days for Girls and an organization in Tanzania called Modern Girl.
This past summer, Noelia traveled to Tanzania to take action and make an impact. "Ever since I attended Notre Dame, I found myself wanting to champion girls to continue their education. During my trip to Tanzania, a group of students and I led safe and comfortable conversations that inform girls about the changes their bodies are going through, then provided each girl a reusable and sustainable period kit. My highlight from this trip is knowing the girls I met will have the opportunity to continue their education and share what they've learned with others," Noelia said. Keep up the amazing work!
