May 31, 2019 A Message from the President On May 29, we welcomed the Class of 2019 to the Academy of Notre Dame's Alumnae Association. During the ceremony, Dr. Dwyer offered the following reflection on the scriptural reading of Matt 5: 13-16. Saint Julie encourages us to celebrate God's goodness by realizing our own goodness and the goodness of others. In the spirit of today's reading, Saint Julie used her gifts and talents for others. She did not hide her light under her own "bushel basket" – in her case, her physical paralysis and constant pain -- but instead Saint Julie demonstrated courage, resilience, determination – and generously shared the unique gifts that God had given to her.
Judith A. Dwyer, Ph.D. President
