The 2023-2024 Planning & Initiatives will be inspired by Hallmark Two:

We honor the dignity and sacredness of each person.

Our Commitment to Diversity

As one of the Hallmarks of a Notre Dame de Namur learning community, we at the Academy of Notre Dame honor the gift of diversity. We recognize and celebrate all aspects of our dynamic community. As part of our commitment to preparing young women “with hearts as big as the world” for global citizenship, we educate for both scholastic achievement and social consciousness. We dedicate ourselves to sustaining a community that is transparent, socially just and richly diverse and inclusive. The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion serves as both a resource and system of support for students, faculty, staff and administration.

Notre Dame’s Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging provides mission-rooted support to our community so that all students are seen, heard, and valued.

Through a variety of programs and initiatives, the office facilitates antiracism as a practice and mindset on campus and “beyond the gates.” We will continue our work of connection and belonging with faculty, staff, and students. Additionally, the office provides opportunities for Notre Dame alumnae to gather and contribute to our work. We cultivate an environment that fosters leadership and collaboration alongside social engagement and service.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Committee

This DEI/B Committee is in its inaugural year 2022-2023 and is a joint faculty, staff, parent, and trustee initiative that meets three times a year. We focus on ways to enhance the culture of Notre Dame and enrich the heart, mind, and spirit of our community - students and adults - by building a culture where all are seen, heard, and valued.

The goals of the committee include but are not limited to:

  • Fostering a community grounded in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging where people of all backgrounds and identities are valued.

  • Creating supportive and inclusive spaces and opportunities for students, faculty, and staff.

  • Developing policies and best practices for attracting, hiring, and retaining students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.

  • Actively promoting diversity initiatives on campus and supporting the students, faculty, and staff who participate in these activities.

  • Planning for ways to best move ND forward in our commitment to this important work.
