Global Classrooms
Global Classrooms follow the COIL model from the SUNY network of universities. It stands for collaborative, online, international learning. These exchanges are planned by ND and sister school teachers and result in collaborative projects that take place in the classroom during the school day. Since Global Classrooms run at no cost and typically do not require after-school hours, they are a great way to make cultural exchange accessible
"I enjoyed connecting with girls across the world and learning about how their culture is similar to ours. Talking about culture with the girls is very cool because it is not only a unique and limited opportunity, but it gives me a perspective on life that I have never experienced."

Pen Pals with Singapore
Each November about 40 ND students participate in a 21st century version of a pen pal exchange with students from our sister school in Singapore, St. Nicholas Girls' School. On three consecutive Fridays, students meet on Zoom to discuss previously assigned curriculum in small breakout rooms. After the three weeks, students have learned a good deal about one another and common practices and values in each respective country. Students often wish for more sessions!
"During our pen pal zooms with St. Nicks I really loved being able to just have a free conversation with the other students! It was really nice to get to talk in smaller groups as well because it was a lot less scary and daunting."
