Choral & Instrumental Music
The Academy of Notre Dame de Namur offers three choirs for students. Both the Lower and Upper Schools offer premier choral ensembles focusing on showcasing our students through excellent cutting edge music of composers such as Elaine Hagenberg, John Rutter, and many others, to the classic music known to the genre for centuries.
The "Women's Chorales" perform in three concerts annually right here at Notre Dame (Christmas, Chamber Music, and Spring). In addition to these concerts both ensembles perform "beyond the gates". The middle school Women's Chorale takes an annual day trip to perform in a Music in the Parks event at one of Pennsylvania's fabulous amusement parks. The upper school Women's Chorale takes an annual overnight trip to a major U.S. city aimed at exploring new places, performing in professional world class venues, and engaging in masterclasses with choral music professionals.
In addition to these ensembles, all students are welcome to join our Liturgical Choir. This choir meets during community time and sings at all liturgies during the year. This group requires no audition and is an opportunity for students of all backgrounds to enjoy singing with their school community.

"It has been my privilege to work with the ladies on Women's Chorale. The rigorous nature of the program has greatly enhanced my technical ability to sight read songs in all keys and a variety of rhythms. I was able to apply my skills to a successful audition and participation on the Archdiocesan All-Catholic Choir ..."

"Being in an ensemble has taught me what it means to work collaboratively to create something bigger than myself. It has taught me what it means to discipline myself and that when you actually enjoy something, it shouldn't feel like work."Hannah JacksonClass of 2021
