Notre Dame Students Recognized by National Merit Scholarship Program

The Academy of Notre Dame de Namur is pleased to announce that four students have been recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program. One student has been named a Semifinalist and has been recognized by the College Board Hispanic Recognition Program; three students have been named Commended Students.

Katherine (Eleanor) Scott '21 was named one of 16,000 National Merit Semifinalists out of the 1.5 million high school students who entered the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program.  Eleanor has the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship® award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. Over 90 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and more than half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar® title.

Isabella Langley '21, Ava MacLaughlin '21 and Sophia Pappano '21 were named Commended Scholars based on their National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test score, placing in the top 3-4% of over 1.5 million students test-takers. Isabella (Marilyn) Langley '21 was also selected for the College Board National Hispanic Recognition Program.

Congratulations, Eleanor, Isabella, Ava and Sophia!
