How to Take Care of Yourself During Final Exams
Finals week is upon us and many of our students are frantically reading their books and reviewing their quizlet study guides.
This time of year may cause our students to feel an increase in stress. The Jed Foundation gives some great guidance on self-care in this article written by Heidi Borst.
6 Ways to Take Care of Yourself During Exam Time
"If you feel burned out from studying for your exams, you’re not alone. It’s normal to want to do well on your exams, but the pressure to perform can cause a lot of stress—especially when you have multiple exams to prepare for at once," - JED Foundation
Director of Student Support and Well-Being Laura Schmidt encourages students to stick to a schedule, get enough sleep each night, and remember to eat breakfast to fuel your body.
"While you study, make sure to take some brain breaks. Download apps like Headspace or Calm to take care of yourself," Schmidt said.
Notre Dame provided a myriad of ways for students to destress and take a brain break before final exams.
The Student Support & Well-Being team partnered with Comfort Caring Canine Therapy Dogs and Mrs. Hicks P'24 who brought Lola to campus for some much-needed stress relief.
The Mental Health Awareness Month Activity Calendar is also a resource where students can take part in a daily challenge or activity to improve their mental health.
"Find a balance in your exam prep. Remember that you are not alone and there are people here to help you. Your teachers, counselors, classmates, and teammates are all here to support you." Schmidt said.
