ND is excited to announce Dr. Rachel Criner, Class of 2008, as our 2025 Commencement Speaker

 

Dr. Criner is an Assistant Professor of Thoracic Medicine and Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia.

She practices pulmonary and critical care medicine, focusing on advanced lung diseases and lung transplantation.

During her years at the Academy of Notre Dame, Rachel was active in softball, swimming, soccer, and cross country. She was a member of the multicultural club and served as Secretary of 5 Main during her senior year.

After graduating from Notre Dame, Dr. Criner earned her Bachelor of Science in Life Science with minors in Spanish and Global Health at the Schreyer Honors College at Pennsylvania State University. She subsequently earned her Doctor of Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI.

Dr. Criner returned to the Philadelphia region in 2019 to pursue a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

During her final year of fellowship, she served as Chief Fellow and concomitantly completed a fellowship in advanced lung disease and lung transplantation. She has been an attending physician at Temple University since 2022.

We look forward to welcoming Dr. Criner back to campus this June for Commencement and to hearing her words of wisdom!
