Upper School Mathematics Teacher - Long-Term Substitute
The Academy of Notre Dame de Namur, an independent Catholic school for girls located in Villanova, Pennsylvania, seeks a Long-Term Substitute Mathematics teacher beginning mid-October 2024 through mid-January 2025. The ideal candidate is a dynamic, student-centered individual versed in current trends and emerging ideas in education. This candidate will inspire students to learn mathematics, be enthusiastic about faith-based education in an all-girls’ environment, have a familiarity with instructional technology, and enjoy working within an atmosphere of shared ideas and constructive feedback. S/he should be passionate about teaching mathematics and be able to relate concepts and principles to students' everyday lives. Long-term Substitute Upper School Counselor
The Academy of Notre Dame de Namur, an independent, college-preparatory, Catholic, all-girls’ day school, seeks an experienced and engaging Upper School Counselor to begin November 2024. Founded in 1856 by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, the school, located on the Main Line outside Philadelphia, is dedicated to teaching young women “what they need to know for life” in preparation for responsible living in a global society.
Reporting to the Director of Student Support and Well-Being, the Upper School Counselor guides and implements a comprehensive counseling program for students in grades 9 through 12, consistent with the standards set forth by the American School Counseling Association and within the parameters of the Academy of Notre Dame’s mission. The Upper School Counselor leads grade-specific seminar classes and counsels individual students in their academic, social-emotional, and future-focused development. S/he has experience and comfort supporting students with learning differences and actively collaborates with the Learning Specialists and other members of the Student Support and Well-Being team. S/he builds strong partnerships with families and students and encourages a safe, supportive, and inclusive school climate. The Upper School Counselor is well-versed in current trends in secondary education and school counseling, experienced in social-emotional and mental health programming and best practices, skilled in supporting students with diverse learning needs, and both enthusiastic and practiced in DEIB-centered work. The ideal candidate is an empathetic, thoughtful communicator with a high degree of emotional intelligence and cultural humility.
The long-term substitute Upper School Counselor will begin in late November and continue through February. S/he contributes positively to employee morale; maintains a professional, pleasant demeanor to all constituencies; maintains confidentiality on school matters both on and off campus; and supports the school’s mission. The Upper School Counselor serves on the Student Support and Well-Being Team.
Responsibilities:
- Implements the upper school counseling curriculum through delivery of developmentally appropriate lesson plans consistent with American School Counseling Association Standards and the school’s mission in three domains: academic, career, and social development.
- Guides individuals and groups of students through the development of educational and career plans using Scior as a resource.
- Counsels individuals and small groups of students facing difficulties.
- Consult regularly with faculty, parents, school nurse, learning specialist(s), and administration as necessary regarding upper school student concerns and interventions.
- Refers students and families to external programs, specialists, and resources as needed.
- With the Learning Specialists, participate in and help facilitate educational intervention plans.
- Collaborates in developing resources to share in the school’s weekly communication with parents.
- Serves as an upper school advisor.

Director of Alumnae Engagement
The Academy of Notre Dame de Namur seeks a creative and experienced Director of Alumnae Engagement to lead the School's alumnae programming. Founded in 1856 by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, the school is the only all-girls’ independent Catholic academy on the Main Line outside Philadelphia, dedicated to teaching young women “what they need to know for life” in preparation for responsible living in a global society.
The Director of Alumnae Engagement leads a dynamic engagement program that establishes and fosters lifelong relationships between and amongst more than 4,000 alumnae and the Academy. The Director works collaboratively to develop and implement a comprehensive program that strengthens loyalty, nurtures a sense of community amongst alumnae, provides meaningful opportunities for engagement through programming, volunteering and special events, and inspires increasing levels of participation and investment in the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur.
JOB DUTIES:
- Develop and execute comprehensive alumnae engagement strategy and continually explore ways to improve its effectiveness to increase engagement with the Academy.
- Plan and execute a yearly calendar of alumnae programs and events both regionally and on-campus.
- Develop and manage an alumnae communications plan, including newsletters, social media, and other outreach efforts.
- Provides effective leadership to, guidance of and support for the Alumnae Association Executive Committee and ensures that the goals are aligned with the Academy’s mission and priorities.
- Plan and execute Reunion Weekend. This includes marketing, logistics, program development and working with reunion volunteers to maximize participation.
- In partnership with Advancement colleagues, work with assigned reunion class(es)to meet reunion giving goals.
- Utilize data to determine the best use of resources for alumnae engagement and develop plans for the program.
- Manage the alumnae engagement budget and resources effectively, ensuring efficient allocation and utilization of funds.
- In collaboration with Marketing & Communications oversee the class notes section of the bi-annual magazine
- In conjunction with Academy colleagues, oversee Alumnae Recognition programs.
- Help maintain a current and accurate alumnae database, updating information regarding address changes, business information, education, marriages, births, deaths, etc.
- Support Advancement events in the evenings and weekends, as needed.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree required.
EXPERIENCE:
Three to five years experience with alumnae, development, event planning or volunteer management experience, preferably within an educational or non-profit setting.

Director of Inclusive Programs and Belonging
The Director of Inclusive Programs and Belonging oversees strategies and initiatives to foster an environment where each individual at the Academy of Notre Dame is seen, valued, and heard. Through effective communication, decision-making, and interactions with the community, the Director will promote belonging in all aspects of the Academy. The Director will collaborate with all Notre Dame constituencies (students, faculty, staff, families, trustees, and alumnae) to develop and ensure the implementation of plans and practices that support diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. The Director works collaboratively with the Leadership Team, Education Council, Student Support, and other school committees to direct resources to DEIB efforts, including professional development, curricular and co-curricular programming, student experience, parent and alumnae engagement, student and faculty recruitment and retention, and other programs such as ND Cares, Campus Ministry, and Global Leadership. The Director reports to the Head of School and is a member of the Leadership Team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the school’s primary thought leader, strategic partner, and bridge builder around all areas of equity and community.
- Be an active, visible, and engaged presence within the overall life of the school by supporting an inclusive environment that welcomes and celebrates our students, faculty, staff, families, and alumnae.
- Develop and maintain productive, constructive and cooperative relationships with all constituencies by demonstrating a deep concern and compassion for all people.
- Develop and facilitate awareness and skills to promote a culture of belonging and cross cultural competencies for all Notre Dame constituencies
- Organize and plan DEIB professional development for faculty, staff, and trustees.

- Lead and manage the DEIB department and stakeholders.
- Supervise and support the goals and objectives for a part-time department member.
- Actively participate in local, regional, and national organizations and conferences related to equity and inclusion, including SDLC/POCC.
- Manage DEIB budget for all Notre Dame constituencies and community-wide programs.
- Collaborate with Admissions in expanding the pool of prospective BIPOC students by developing relationships with feeder schools to diversify the Notre Dame student body.
- Collaborate and coordinate with Marketing and Communications on promoting and encouraging participation in and support of the DEIB initiatives.
Qualifications:
The ideal leader will be an accomplished strategist, convener, and community builder with a documented history of success in leading organizational initiatives on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, as well as a track record of successful collaborations with students, faculty, staff, parents, and alumnae.

Director of Institutional Advancement
The Academy of Notre Dame de Namur, an independent, college-preparatory, Catholic girls’ day school, seeks a creative and experienced Director of Institutional Advancement to lead the School's advancement programming. The Director of Institutional Advancement reports to the Head of School, serving as a member of the Leadership Team and managing the day-to-day operations of the Advancement Department. The Director will provide leadership and direction for all fundraising efforts; will direct friend and fundraising efforts; and will be a strategic partner to the Head of School and the Board of Trustees.

The successful candidate is an exceptional communicator with demonstrated experience partnering with and balancing the priorities of multiple constituencies. They should have experience in independent schools and fundraising.
Leadership
- Leads strategic planning for advancement, which is driven by and supports the School’s Mission, Hallmarks, and priorities.
- Provides direction and support to the Head of School in fulfilling advancement responsibilities, ensuring prudent use of time.
- Assists the Head of School in providing support to the Board of Trustees, including utilizing the talents and ideas of the Board to expand Notre Dame's fundraising efforts.
- Develops strong working relationships with Trustees and other key constituents of the School.
- Spends at least 80% of the time on activities directly related to nurturing the relationships with donors who have the capacity to make significant gifts (of $25,000 and more) to the Academy through capital or endowment gifts.
- Serve as the leadership team liaison to the Advancement Committee of the Board which involves preparing the agenda, communicating with the Chair of the Advancement Committee, participating in the meeting, and preparing meeting minutes.
- Provides periodic analysis of advancement program results and status to the Head of School and the Board of Trustees.
- Leads the Advancement Team providing direction, feedback, and coaching to insure annual fundraising goals are met.
- Collaborates with the Advancement Team on the vision, direction, and oversight of the Academy’s Institutional Advancement Program.
- Develops strategy and plans for stewardship of donors in coordination with the Advancement Team.
Gifts Officer
- Personally contacts, develops relationships, solicits, and stewards major gift prospects and donors.
- Finalizes specific strategies for the cultivation and solicitation of major donor prospects and reviews prospect strategies regularly for refinement.
- Develops long-range plans for current and prospective donors' involvement in the life of the School.
- Develops and manages a program that engages the Head of School, other leadership team members, Trustees, and volunteers in stewarding major gift donors.
- In coordination with the Advancement Team:
- Manages tracking of endowment funds, including background information on donors, fund purpose, gift amount, market value, and use of funds.
- Ensures that donors are provided with annual reports on endowment performance, market value of fund, and use of endowment income.
Campaign Leadership and Management
- Engages, coordinates, and translates campaign plans into action, including but not limited to committee structure and goals, participation of Board of Trustees, and advancement staffing.
- Manages prospect identification, evaluation, assignment, and tracking to ensure the success of the campaign, including the assignment of prospects to volunteers, and preparing prospect proposals and meeting scenarios, including personalization for each prospect.
- Coordinates events to support the campaign, including cultivation events.
- Manages systems tracking and reporting on gifts and ensures pledge fulfillment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful fundraising experience, including prior capital campaign experience
- Proven track record of creatively building and leading successful teams

Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications
The Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications (ADMC), a full-time position, helps promote external and internal awareness and understanding of the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur and all that it has to offer. The ADMC will aid in driving interest from new families considering the Academy for their daughters, current families understanding the value of a Notre Dame education, and alumnae remaining connected to their alma mater. Through the website, print marketing materials, and more, the ADMC will bring a fresh perspective to the creation of visual and print content, helping to distinguish Notre Dame as the leader in independent, Catholic, all-girls' education. Reporting to the Director of Enrollment Management, the ADMC will help to ensure brand compliance by members of the internal community and work to increase and expand awareness of the Academy in the broader community. Collaborating with the Academy’s administration, faculty and staff, and the other ADMC, this ADMC will manage and advance Notre Dame’s image, brand, reputation, and relationships among targeted audiences.
The Assistant Directors of Marketing and Communications will:
- Collaborate with the Academy’s administration, faculty and staff to establish and implement ongoing strategic and innovative marketing plans designed to achieve institutional goals and support the Academy’s Mission.
- Collaborate and coordinate to ensure consistency in messaging and integrate brand identity throughout the Academy.
- Coordinate, review, and oversee all uses of the Notre Dame brand.

JOB DUTIES:
- Responsible for the Academy’s written publications and collateral materials that enhance and sustain the brand of the Academy.

- Conduct interviews, compile information, and gather data to support the writing for which they are responsible.
- Oversee the design and production of print materials and publications, requiring robust editing skills, experience writing press releases, and making presentations.

- Manage school community communications including ND Weekly and ND Summer Newsletter.
- Partner with the Information Resources and Technologies department to maintain up-to-date information and maximum user experience on the Academy’s Veracross Portals.
- Support the Head of School with communication to internal constituencies and external audiences through ND publications, local/regional publications, and other media outlets.
- Support the efforts of the Advancement Office assisting with direct mail appeals, campaign materials, communications, and events. Oversees all promotional marketing of Advancement events..
JOB EXPECTATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Superior communication skills, oral and written.
- High-level copy editing for school communications.
- Knowledge and experience with Adobe Suite and Google Workspace (G Suite) required.

Coaching Opportunities
Assistant Crew Coach
The Academy of Notre Dame de Namur is searching for an Assistant Crew Coach (part-time) for our upcoming spring season. Our coaches are actively engaged in the Notre Dame community, and embrace the mission and values of St. Julie Billiart and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. Our coaches are responsible for coaching, character development, and providing direction to our student-athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork in their sport.
This coaching role requires you to interact thoughtfully and respectfully with student-athletes, fellow coaches, staff, parents, and the community, as well as follow the mission of the Academy. Positive communication strategies, organizational skills, and safety awareness are key requirements.
Summary:
The Assistant Coach, under the direction of the Head Rowing Coach, assists with most day-to-day aspects of our programs, regattas, equipment, and facilities.
Spring Upper School Teams
- practice 5 days per week
- compete in approximately 7 regattas each season
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with practices and regattas
- Under the direction of the Head Coach, will assist and/or lead on-water practices. Includes: Following training plans, assuring equipment is available and operational, and providing direct coaching and technical feedback both on and off the water with a shared emphasis on individual and overall boat improvement.
- Assist with boat usage & transport, communicating with other coaches.
- Manage the action at regattas. Includes: Supervising team and equipment at regatta site.
- Keeping team members and other coaches informed of schedule and responsibilities.
- Assist with the supervision of the loading/unloading of equipment.
Facilities & Equipment
- Engage in collaborative communication and assist with the planning of duties/responsibilities with other assistant coaches.
- Foster a healthy team environment that inspires teamwork, respect, commitment, and a love of rowing.
- Be a role model that embodies the goals and values of our team, and provides positive leadership.
- Be available to rowers, and parents, to answer questions and provide guidance, expertise, and feedback in a professional, timely manner under the direction of the Head Coach.
- Ensure all applicable Policies, Safety Rules, and the Code of Conduct are followed by all team members.
Experience & Education
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Candidates must satisfactorily complete all background checks.
- Prior collegiate or high school coaching experience is required.
- Any licenses associated with water sports (i.e., Red Cross or YMCA lifesaving, small craft handling, water safety) are preferred. Level II or III US Rowing Coaching Certification is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Experience and ability to teach both sculling, sweep rowing, and coxswain skills
- Solid understanding of US Rowing and PSRA Scholastic Rowing rules
- Thorough knowledge of equipment maintenance, rigging adjustments, and trailer loading
- Ability to recognize repairs required to equipment and knowledge of where to get those repairs performed is essential; ideally, the candidate would be able to personally perform minor repairs.
- Ability to develop rowing technique and athletic conditioning in athletes of varying ages, experience, and skills
- Experience developing and executing endurance and strength training programs and experience with general training principles, nutrition, and exercise physiology
- Motorboat operation skills sufficient to operate in close quarters with fragile rowing shells, transfer rowers between launch and rowing shell, and execute rescue maneuvers if necessary
- Ideally comfortable driving a truck with a boat trailer to regattas
Soft Skills
- Excellent leadership and teaching skills
- Must have a passion for the sport and a desire to pass that on to others
- Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with athletes, parents, other coaches, officials, and club volunteers
- Ability to communicate effectively – orally, telephonically, in person, and in writing (including e-mail), and to represent the club in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Weekend travel to local, state, and regional regattas is required.
- Work is primarily outdoors, frequently in wet, cold, slippery conditions. Must be able to bend, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment. Must be able to frequently lift and carry heavy equipment and supplies weighing 40 pounds or more.
- Adequate hearing is needed to communicate effectively in person and by phone, while exposed to noise from outboard motors.
- Good spatial skills and fast reaction time, to predict movements of people and equipment on and off water, and prevent accidents

Head Varsity Softball Coach
The Academy of Notre Dame de Namur, an independent Catholic school for girls located in Villanova, Pennsylvania, is seeking a head varsity softball coach. Our coaches are actively engaged in the Notre Dame community and embrace the mission and values of St. Julie Billiart and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.
The role of the head varsity softball coach is to be responsible for coaching, character development and providing direction to student-athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill and an appreciation for sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork in softball.
This job requires you to interact thoughtfully and respectfully with student-athletes, fellow coaches, staff, parents, and community members, as well as follow the mission of the school. Positive communication strategies, organizational skills, and safety awareness are key requirements. The head softball coach reports to the Athletic Director.
Key Elements
- Follow and uphold the policies and mission statement of the Academy of Notre Dame.
- Plan, organize, and direct Notre Dame’s softball program.
- Nurture and generate excitement with potential Middle School softball players.
- Instruct and demonstrate skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team development.

- Consult with the Director of Athletics regarding any off-season training programs, including
- scheduling dates for summer camps/practices, uniform fitting, and pre/post tryout informational parent meetings.
- Schedule and plan informational parent meetings at the beginning of each season for all levels.
- Create a safe environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Work directly with school athletic trainer in reporting injuries, teaching precautions, and following procedures to ensure staff/student safety and help students prevent injuries.
- Model good sportsmanship behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards opposing teams, fans, parents, officials, spectators and community.
Job Requirements
Applicants for this position must have previous high school or college coaching experience. Travel/tournament softball coaching experience is also a plus. The applicants must possess a positive coaching philosophy and excellent communication and organizational skills.
