Graduation

On Saturday, May 30, 2009, the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur awarded diplomas to 87 seniors during graduation exercises on the Mansion Lawn.

Commencement weekend began with a Baccalaureate Mass on Friday, May 29, in the Aimee Willard Gymnasium. Reverend Robert J. Murray, O.S.A., of Villanova University, officiated. Graduation took place on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with Academy President Veronica Collins Harrington presiding.

Ana Smith Iltis, PhD, a Notre Dame graduate from the class of 1992, delivered the commencement address. Iltis, currently Co-Editor in Chief of the Journal of Law, Medicine, and Ethics; Associate Editor of the Journal of Medicine and Philosophy; and co-editor of the Annals of Bioethics, urged the graduates to seek out lives of service and learning and continue to be thankful for all they have been given.

Valedictorian Laura Buckley of West Chester and Salutatorian Laura Holman of Rosemont spoke to the graduating class. Karen Guarino of Malvern served as Mistress of Ceremonies.
