St. Julie Billiart It is difficult to define simplicity which, according to St. Julie, was God's favorite virtue. Today we might define it as an openness to God's goodness, an uncomplicated willingness to receive God in the concrete events of our daily lives. St. Julie spoke about it in metaphors: a simple heart was like a "crystal, penetrated by the rays of the Sun of Justice" or it was "like a sunflower which follows all the movements of the sun and ever turns toward it." She invites us to focus our human spirit and to follow the direction of God in our lives. Taken from Remembering God's Goodness |
