Understanding How Colleges Admit Students
Each of the following criteria may be considered by colleges or universities
when making admission decisions.
Constructing College List
Each student is encouraged to begin constructing their college list
in the spring of their junior year. Based on the information gathered
through college exploration, students should have a preliminary list
of colleges and universities that match their desired interests. During
college counseling courses in the spring of the junior year, each student
will be given a worksheet to facilitate in constructing their list.
Students may also use Naviance to assist them in constructing their
list.
The worksheet is formatted for students to subdivide each college into
one of the following three categories. Keep in mind it is important
to have at least two college in each category.
