Mock Trial
Moderators:
Mrs. Turner and Mrs. Lipschutz

Students in Mock Trial play the roles of witnesses and attorneys and plan the case for both prosecution and defense. The trial competitions are held at the county courthouse and are heard by a judge of the Court of Common Pleas.

Congratulations to the Gold Mock Trial team! Gold is the Delaware County first place team winner

For the second time in its eleven-year existence, the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur ’s Mock Trial team advanced to the state round of the 23rd annual Pennsylvania Bar Association Statewide Mock Trial Competition. Because our region is a large one, we sent 2 teams (Bucks County winner and Delaware County winner) to the competition. There were 12 teams from all over the state.  Rounds begqn on Friday, March 30 with 2 semifinal rounds on Saturday, Marsh 31, and then the final competition for state championship. See pictures below.

Usually in Delaware County, a judge of the Court of Common Pleas hears the trial; the jury is made up of local attorneys who determine the winner based on the presentation of the case, not on the matter of the law. This year's case is a civil one on alleged cyberstalking of one student by another student. The county and state events are sponsored by the Young Lawyers Division of the PA Bar Association.
