Speech Club
Moderator: Mrs. Maria Gallagher
Speech Club offers opportunity to participate in one or more oratorical
competitions including "Voice of Democracy," "Optimist Oratorical," and Pennsylvania Highs School Speech League events which include original
oratory, extemporaneous speaking, dramatic interpretation of prose or
poetry, and dramatic single or duo.
The Speech Club is now part of two leagues:
- Pennsylvania High School Speech League (PHSSL)
- Philadelphia Catholic Forensics League.
Our girls are doing speech and debate this year. We will compete against
schools, such as, St. Joseph's Prep, La Salle College High School, Holy
Ghost Prep, Merion Mercy, Archemere, etc.
We practice Tuesday mornings at 8:00 am and Wednesdays during 9th period
in room 5A.
Congratulations to the High School Speech & Debate Club for participating in Lower Merion's Speech Tournament. Laura Buckley placed 1st in Humorous Interpretation. Liz Gallagher and Ashley Hobson placed 1st and 2nd in Prose. Way to go girls! |
