ND Ambassadors ND AMBASSADORS was established in 2007 to recognize and acknowledge the contributions of students who give of their time and talent to Notre Dame. ND Ambassadors is open to all students in 6th through 12th grades who are willing to give of their time and talent in the service of the Notre Dame community. ND Ambassadors are the school’s envoys. They represent the school at various functions throughout the school calendar, including some evenings and weekends. Some examples of this service are conducting tours for visitors, volunteering for phonathons, and helping out at special events. The majority of events will be scheduled well in advance, so the student ambassadors will know when their services are needed and can plan accordingly. However, these students should also be at the ready – taking pride in their appearance and responsibility for any interruption in their classes -- should an immediate need arise. The students will receive training in order to be prepared for giving tours, greeting guests, and otherwise representing the Academy, officially, on an as-needed basis. Among the skills that will be developed through affiliation with this organization will be communications, including public speaking, stewardship and leadership. Furthermore, ND Ambassadors will have the satisfaction of knowing that they served the NDA community by their steadfast commitment to representing the Academy to the public, invited guests and other constituent groups. ND Ambassadors will have brief meetings to review calendar events and expectations on an as needed basis. Meetings will take place during a regularly scheduled 9th period, in the North Campus (NC3) and should not preclude the student from involvement in any other club or organization, even in the event of a meeting conflict. In the first year since the organization’s inception in the fall of 2007, ND Ambassadors have graciously assisted at events such as Homecoming Mass, Experience NDA Day, Open House, the Dedication of the Harron Family Building, two alumnae phonathons, the first basketball game in the Aimee Willard Gymnasium, B.L.A.S.T., and the Sunflower Run. By May of 2008 over 60 students had joined the ND Ambassadors and nearly 400 hours of volunteering for Notre Dame were logged. Any student interested in joining ND ambassadors should contact one of the moderators.
